Cafe Lamore
The perfect place to hang out with friends, particularly when you want to have a lot of fun in solitude happens to be Café Lamore. Sadiya discovered it and took us there for lunch one Friday afternoon. We had no idea we’d tie the nuptial knot in the privacy of the place. Went there as singles and returned as a pair. I’m never going to forget how crazy I behaved that day. It was a after a long time that I did something that amazes me till date.
Of course my late night mamzar beach exploitation is the other adventure I can never forget; we were after all under the scrutiny of the CID who believed we were fugitives from an asylum. But nevertheless I was short of a few minutes from turning into a werewolf that night I had begun howling at the full moon. I did however become a rabbit and hopped across half the beach I’m sure Rabia and Samirah remember the time, they are after all my partners in crime :P
So coming back to my wedding afternoon with Sadia and Saamia; zamzama is really not fun without you guys anymore by the way. Can you believe it; I haven’t looked into Khaadi and said damn I want that bag. I’ve not even considered chatterbox for breakfast in a long time. The sandwich spread we’ve got is still right where you guys left it. Haven’t had any since you guys left. All I have now is some fun memories of you guys that I love sharing with the rest of the world.
Sorry I got side tracked by emotions taking over me *sniff*, *Sniff* right so where were we? Oh yeah, so that afternoon during the Namaz break we decide to head out to Café Lamore, according to Sadiya it was an inexpensive place to be at, and closer to the office so we could return ASAP if we had to. And most importantly it was different then the pizza we had in mind earlier. So we walk up there thinking it might be closed coz everything else was shutting down anyways. But luckily the door was open and the timings on the door said we could eat. So we walk in the first think I notice is a huge tv screen, on the wall, half a bottle of pepsi on the reception table, the computer screen logged out of windows, and all humans missing. I think there were 2 tables for two and one sofa arrangement to play games, I think that’s what Lamore is all about – games. so while we’re looking around waiting for someone to hear us and come out and attend to us, this lady walks in and by the looks of her confused expression I assume she’s one lost customer like us not sure if the place is open or not. So she comes in and asks us if she can help us before I can recover my wits Sadiya tells her we’re hear to eat and she offers us to sit upstairs. And I’m still thinking ‘does she work here?’ ‘Does she own the place?’ ‘Who the hell was she?’
well who cares we go upstairs and settle ourselves into what looks like a table with loads of scratches apparently everyone comes and doodles on the table with their keys. I was tempted to write our names on it too but gave away the urge to do so and instead concentrate on looking at the walls and the portraits hanging about. Sadiya thinks we should have had some music, I’m on low battery so can’t take the risk in case I get an important call she takes her Sony Eriksson out and plays something while Saamia and I enjoy. We wait and wait for someone one to come up and take our order but no one does, Saamia had to scream down to the lady for some attention and she comes up clattering her heals quite apparently very reluctantly and she hands us the menus we decide on 3 sandwiches don’t remember what Saamia and Sadiya ordered I ordered for a club sandwich that is what I always do everywhere I go. And then we settle down waiting for our food to come. Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into quarter of an hour and still no sign of food. So what do we do to kill our time lets take some pictures, yeah sure that’s a good pass time? So we all take out our phones and start clicking posses, shots and then we see this wedding portrait hanging on the wall and say gosh we should have one of those. And so to kill time we turn Saamia into our wedding photographer and Sadiya and me the wedded couple. We’re still not sure who are the bride and the groom however Sadiya became the groom in the photos coz she’s taller than me. And I’ll have to admit her expressions too did come out as a pompous groom.
Oh great we think we hear someone come up with our food yes! It is the waiter but what the hell? Hello? You forgot to get us one of our orders! Oh sorry I’ll just get it and he rushes down and gets that with another delay of 20 minutes. Oh but whatever that was the first time Saamia rushed thru her food plus the food was good so we forgave them for the delay. A spicy club sandwich! really I’d like to have that again so when are you guys coming over? Oh and the fries were a good quantity too and I guess they were nice and spicy too.
Café Lamore is a place to be at, not with your family but definitely with your friends. And since nothing is too expensive you can easily getaway on a low budget at the end of a month.
